The Inca Trail is the most famous trek in South America, the same one that leads to the impressive archaeological site of Machu Picchu, recognized as a World Heritage Site. Today’s hikers follow in the footsteps of the Inca nobility, passing ruins only accessible on foot. The only two ways to get to Machu Picchu are by train or through the Inca Trail. This path ascends and descends through different ecosystems, a rewarding challenge the moment one reaches the Citadel and crosses through Puerta del Sol.
