Huchuy Qosqo & Inca Trail 4D/3N

Huchuy Qosqo & Inca Trail 4 days and 3 nights

This is easily the shortest of the treks and is best suited for those with a limited amount of time, but who would still like to do a bit of trekking before they see Machu Picchu with fantastic views of mountains and the Andes. It is the lowest in altitude (4350 meters) of the three alternative treks and also the shortest in distance (17 kilometers) but still sees some great examples of Inca Stairs of inka trail and other Inca ruins along the way. Huchuy Qosqo (small Cusco) is situated above the sacred Valley of incas and offers very spectacular views over the mountain range Cordillera de Vilcanota. This trek is also a great way for you to enjoy a shorter trek that, and then you do the inka trail to Machupicchu.

Day 1: Cusco – Patabamba – Huchuy Qosqo.

At 06:00 am pick up from your hotels, private van for 35 minutes to Patabamba located at 3500 masl. (for our mid-day we have a 8 Km of moderate walk with a gradual climbing of 450 meters,4-5 Hrs until the lunchspaghettiplace of pumamarca) we start our hike walking at the ancient Inca Trail used by Quechua people to connect the Sacred Valley, huchuy qosqo and probably to Machupicchu at the XV century. From this point you can observe panoramic views of Pisaq and Coya town at this high Andean level we observe llamas and alpacas eating the andean grass named Ichu, small cactus and some bromelias bushes locally known as Puyas. At the left side on the path we can see ancient Incas terraces used by farmers. A gentle walking down to the trail as it curves sharply up-hill to reach a pass of near 4180 meters. Then we descend along the trail, you will see a beautifully green valleys stretching out as far as the eye can see, the trail takes us up over the second pass (4000 meters) and we can appreciate all the sacred valley. We will have a campsite at Huchuy Qosqo archeological site.
